OK, not much has happned, I did re-build the manifold but it looks exactly the same only a few inches bigger. I used 3/4 oak instead of pine. other than that, they could be twins.

When I bought the Peavey amp I know it would not be a long term solution. Today I found a good deal on an EP2500 so I got it. I'm taking Monday off, Ironically Nikki and the kids will be at school so... I'm going to wait until they leave and get to work. I guess the hardest part is going to be running wire through the attic as it's mighty cold here right now.

I also have an Onkyo 806 on order. I've never used the Auddessy system, is there any special consideration to be made when using it with an IB?

Not really, but I will say that the 876 would be a LOT better for low frequency when it comes to Audyssey. It has MultEQ XT, which uses a higher resolution. It will equalizes down to 10Hz very nicely. It is more expensive, but not by much. I just ordered it for $989. I had the XT version in my NAD T785 and in the low frequency range it was marvelous.

Btw... you image above is not showing up for some reason.

The EP2500 showed up yesterday. I had taken Monday off for various reasons and had planned out a few hours to finally get the IB installed, well, I got a delivery notice for the Onkyo saying I had to sign. I just knew it would come about as quick as I got into the attic, so, it did not get installed. The Onkyo showed up late in the afternoon so I would have had all morning... he also never made me sign :unbelievable:

I also ordered all new speakers last week. I took advantage of the AV123 lowest price deal and got a 7.0 ELT525 package, 2 towers, center and 4 surrounds in rosewood. Hard to believe I'll have an all new system installed by this time next week... it's going to be a busy weekend :daydream:

I unwrapped the 2500 last night, holy cow, they did a good job wrapping it up!d

After a quick look at the back panel it did not take me long to realize that there is more to this that plugging it in and turning it on.. HELP. I have no idea how to set those switches. I am going to have 2 8ohm drivers per channel giving it 2 4ohm loads, that’s all I know at this point.

IBs are sure messy

Wired up

EP2500 with the 806 on top, kind of like electronic p0rn

Trim plate

And all covered up. Like a said, a little caulk and it's done.

I had to do 2 innies and 2 outies. I thought I would clear one of the braces in the attic but it just didn't happen. I did wire the 2 innies backwards to make up for the difference. Soundwise I can't tell which is which. Ran some bass heavy music and since Otto broke these in for me I did not worry about playing it loud. Everything sounds great. it blends with my mains perfectly. No movies just yet. Once Nikki finishes up what she is doing I'll throw in some Iron Man and give it a good testing.

One of my big concerns was ticking off the neighbors. I actually hear the IB outside LESS than I do my old JBL sub, it was the same way with my other IB, I don't understand why but, it's the truth! Well, I feel like I've been hit by a train, so, I'm going to go take some muscle relaxers, a hot bubble bath and try to figure out how in the world I'm going to mount my new center channel. I did not have any issue drilling into my JBL center, but, a drill and this speaker will NEVER meet.

HA, I barely got it up. I'll work on getting some graphage at some point. Sounds great. I would say the SQ of these Mach5's is a little better than that of my Dayton's. No surprises as I've already had an IB before so I knew what to expect, but, it blend in nicely... I'll give it some heavy stuff in a bit and really crank it up.

Still no graphs... Still no mounted center, surrounds etc...

I do have the amp / Onkyo relationship smoothed out though. I also have a new piece of favorite demo material too. On a whim I picked up Cabella's Dangerous Hunts 2009 for the PS3. The opening scene, when the bear is chasing the hunter WOW, it FELT like that bear was running through the house. You could feel and almost SMELL every grunt, it was wonderful.

Still just doing some listening. I think I have the placement nailed! It just blends in so nicely with the mains. I'm listening to a Billy Joel live album ( album being vinyl) right now and the kick drum was just so clean and nice. None of the boomy boom boom stuff you tend to get used to with a typical box sub. I know that going from IB back my my 12" boom box was hard, going BACK to an IB again was very welcome!
