Scott, Nick, you still planning on 22" drivers? I am closing on my home today finally so now I can get in and play... but it's looking like I may have to go IB. If I must, 22" IB3's may be just what the dr ordered.

jus got word 22" progress resumes in january, for anyone interested
Any word on the 18 they showed for ht use?
I email them on the [email protected]

If they were gonna do a 22" I'd definately get those :(
The 22" was for IB as far as I know, unless there is something new in the works.
The big dog is coming! That's good news!
I missed this post I think... yeah thats great news if they keep up on it this time! Presense was great back then, they stirred up a lot of interest and got a lot more than they expected...then they got busy and disappeared!

So if this duece duece uses the Q motor, does the power handling go up? Will BL be large enough to load these in large enclosures? Considering, my 18" IB3 did well in 21 cubic feet.. so despite having a larger cone to push, I hope it could push it in a large box. Will the Bp option be available? If so, what all does this affect?

" Bp Power - This option adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel all of the air under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. To aid with this increased airflow we also add 6 axial cooling channels in the top plate. Along with increased thermal capacity comes the addition of an extra spider and a changed spider pack. All of these features increase power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application. "

I was told they are still aiming for the same $400ish price tag, 96% of dual 18" IB3 Vd with 36mm Xmax and 1975cm Sd.

Nice cant wait. Maybe just in time for the income tax refund. :p
speculation speculation speculation

for those of you with good driver knowledge, would you mind speculating on the future 22" IB3. Basically it will be a 22" Q as it will use the Q motor but somehow they will be getting 36mm Xmax out of it which makes things more difficult... I know... did I say speculation? the undermotored IB3 18 did excellent in huge ported, taking much more power than it was rated for as it was ONLY rated mechanically not thermally. I would expect the same with the 22" especially since they bumped it up to the Q for more motor strength.

Basically all I want to know is:

1: can you guestimate BL?

2: is it possible for the Q motor to hang in there with the XBL^2 Maelstrom motor?

1: 12 (the average between the IB3 and Q motors)

2: No

Just speculating :whistling:
I'm interested in how they got an extra 9mm xmax rating out of the Q motor with out a major upgrade. It's probably the xmech of the suspension (spiders).
exactly what I have been wondering about for the last year. sure the BTL Xmax option brought it to 28mm from I think 16mm or something with a longer coil, but if they put a longer coil on the Q, wouldn't that require a very deep hyper bumped back plate at the minimum...in addition to what it already is?
X-max is just the length of the voice coil subtracted by the top plate thickness divided by 2. I don't think you can get 3" peak to peak on a 12 spoke basket and 8" spiders. :dontknow: Rarely are subs a bottomless design.
exactly... but I can't get any more detail from Fi :foottap:
