Most iPods have a built in tuner so you should be good to go with just the iPod.

I had a nice 4-volt Alpine, CDA-9855 if I remember correct, x-girlfriend got to keep it in her car after break up...so I was checking into a 8-volt Eclipse a while back, but what for if an IPOD or something would work?

You really don't need a high voltage radio if you have a line driver!!

Kenwood has some radios that work very well with the ipod's, you might want to check them out!
