Ummm in a word no. The LMS (I have one) will handle more power thermally than nearly any other driver I can think of outside of straight up car audio SPL woofers. It will play fine wit a 5kw amp. However it will NOT handle that much power in the low bass. The driver will destroy itself mechanically with over excursion. Worry about mechanical handling not thermal.

Well yes if you use a HPF and a tiny 57L box then on paper yes. Probably with a lot of power compression though. Drop the power to around 4KW in and there's really no need for a HPF. However keeping the power around 3000w and making the enclosure a bit bigger like 100L seems to make a little more sense. I don't like a HPF on sealed subwoofers for the most part. A little bit of electronics roll off and watching your enclosure volume and power available should allow you to run safely without one.
