I see the retail is a lot higher but I know someone selling a Da-lite 88130 for 200?

I know nothing about screens or projectors yet, I still have a lot of research to do, but stumbled upon this screen?

Should I pick it up? I don't see a lot of info. on it. 4:3 ratio, 100"

This is an in-ceiling screen that is designed to be installed when the HT is built, it's not a stand-alone unit.

It is also quite small if using 16:9 video (effectively about a 91" screen).

The screen material is matte white which means it will need to be used in a HT with absolutely minimal (preferably no) ambient light, and with a PJ that has good black levels out of the box.

The cost of this screen is in it's electronics not it's screen material. It sells for around $2000 so I would question why someone was selling one for only a tenth of that. :huh:

He changed the price to 100 so yea, I can see why you'd be skeptical. I am as well, but it's still in the box.

In my experience deals that seem too good to be true, especially WAY too good to be true, usually are. There are the very rare exceptions, but unless you know the seller personally I think these screens may have "fallen off a truck" meaning they may be less than legal or have other problems. :huh:

if you cant physically look at it before you buy dont do it. This sounds way to fishy. :nono:

Seems like a great deal to me, no more of a risk than anything else you might buy used. Sometimes good deals are just that, a good deal. Obviously check it out best you can.

Only bummer is its 4x3, 16x9 would have been a much better find...

I wouldn't go with a 4:3 screen regardless of the price. If you are on a serious budget then you may want to consider a Jamestown screen. Its hard to beat a 110" screen for less than 250 shipped.
