Hehehe...ok, they aren't really dates, but it's still a tough decision:
I'm updating my A/V receiver, but I'm stuck between these two choices:

I've always liked the build quality of Marantz, They always seem to have good reviews. My only issue is they seem to be the last receiver company to come out with the newer features.
I agree with Tony's assessment 100%. I really like Marantz' line up and their build quality is really something, but their feature set leaves the user wanting more. I nearly bought a Marantz pre-pro, but after reading the lack of specific features that I wanted, specifically post processing on lossless audio codecs especially after having had it in all the previous receivers that I've had in the last two years, I just couldn't see myself taking a step backwards.

Their overall sound quality is top-notch, though, so in that regard, it's a great step up!
I've been hearing alot of great things about Marantz (built quality, sound, etc.) - I just haven't heard one
It's been a few years since I last looked at receivers. But based on what I researched back then, the Marantz would be a better buy.
How much are you looking to spend? Both of those receivers are lacking in inputs and power....both of which I at least consider to be extremely important.
Looks like member EAGLES is selling a mid range Yamaha that would best either of these for $170 in the classified section.
