Getting an IXL 18" soon and was wondering whats best I would like something that is standing rather then laying and taking floor space, but was wondering if a sono or a rectangle box would be best. Was thinking about the box because it'd be able to wedge right into the corner where a sono has that triangle of space.

Room in 13.2' long 12' wide by 8' high. 1267.2 square feet, it's gonna be loud, yes it's a bedroom :). Have another sub for the main room.

Power - Haven't decided yet, seems a EP 2500 would be too much power but headroom is great.
Was considering a bash 500 from CSS, a ED 1300, or possibly a pro amp something like a crown XTi 1000. But open to other suggestions.

I'd be purchasing a Reckhorn B-1 from Bob for a Hp/F.

Usage would be about 60% movies, 20% music and 20% gaming. Was thinking something like a 16 htz tune possibly  I know the box will be pretty big to fit the ports and enough area of them that there will be little air speed. Id like to get some proper ports like the psps rather then slot. Bit if slow would be best, so be it, or theres always the sono tube with wooden port flanges.

Thanks!

Would it be alright to make it side( front) firing? in the lower end of the box and port into the air through the top, or would it be best down firing? My current subs I have from a DIY are down firing atm, did it that was so no little fingers could touch them, but not worried about that now. :paddle:

Edit I also looked through all the IXL DIY stuff from members, some nice jobs in there, I liked yours and Vitods.

Also what about bracing, and how many? Ive been playing with the ports and seems 2 4" ports would work at 18.7" long each, Can you confirm with yours?
I dont have a router or know anyone with one, so id have to purchase it and as I don't "plan" on building much after this sub, 2 PSP ports would be cheaper then the router and round over bits.

Im using XP, but I was getting errors when I had auto calculate one and then after I cleared it all, then put them all in again when it was off, I got errors like "Floating point division by zero" then "Access violation at address 004d404e in module 'winISD.exe' Read of address 00000008" ><

Tried that too, all I get is the invalid floating point error anytime I click something, makes this frustrating :/

I tried it about a month ago when I was a troll here and got the same thing so I was using the beta program and it worked for me fine, but I've seen people say pro was a lot better on these forums.

But I appreciate the help!

yup thanks :D

Edit: scratch that, still get the error :( Mine was set 10-500

uninstalled all WinISD and re installed them after a reboot, still have the error. I'm doomed to not be able to use pro version.
It happens when I click the graph, also if I change a value for anything including box size, ambient temperatures, power to the sub, doesn't happen with all drivers an ID 8 loaded and works fine, seems whatever custom files I have don't, but I have them in the folder they should be as per Mike's link.

Think I found the problem I wasnt selecting EBS for the box, but should it be a -3db or a -6 db EBS?

Anyone have a tutorial for using the sonosub calc? Do I have to put in my own measurements for the caps? It isn't auto completing them, is there a way to?

It'd be easier making a sono as currently I lack a lot of tools Id need to make a nice box, and really don't want to pay someone else to do the work. Specially since I have the time to build something.

But I don't have a table saw, or a router (this would be needed for the sono still so I may buy one) although I could use screws to build a box Id rather brad nail it but no compressor and I also don't have a ton of bar or pipe clamps.

But Im sure I could manage circles and some gluing.

Thanks again. :dumbcrazy:

24" diameter tube is 5'6 and 15/16"s which isn't too bad I guess

Think Im going with the Easy Button build, having the build outsourced but if they want something un reasonable Ill be building a sono as a 12' section of 24" I priced at $95 today :D
