Looking to build two sealed subs hopefully using the jbl 1502D wired as 4 ohms, suitable pro audio amp and a behringer fbq2496.

Has anyone tried these subs before in home use? I've got the 1202D in my car and its really good for the money.

just looking at the new 1514, the xmax rating is nearly double which I take it is the the movement in the cone?

The 1502D would distort badly when pushed then?

If it's double the Xmax it would make a huge improvement.

Not if you keep it within its limits.

Thanks for the info.

I've seen the Velodyne CHT-Q series use a slotted port in them, are there any benefits from that design?

No, both slot and round need to be a certain size and length to get a specific tuning. For your sub in 6 cu.ft tuned to 23 hz, a 4 inch diameter round port would need to be 7.75 inches long. A slot port 3" x 4" would need to be 7.25 inches long to do the same thing. Remember that the thickness of the cabinet wall counts for 3/4 of an inch of the length of the port.

Quite a bit more to this than i thought, will have to think it through.

The Velodyne CHT-12Q is £524 over here, is this a better choice than spending time, money and then being very dissapointed with the results?

I've got a Mordaunt short 409w at the mo but want more control over what its doing and better bass.

Thanks
