Hi,
I am looking for help designing a box for my above sub.
I had a play with winisd but I didn’t do it correctly as I got different results from Mike's file
http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-subwoofers-general-discussion/14410-downloadable-winisd-pro-files-14.html#post632155

Thanks mike :)

based on winisd it gave
Volume 2.826 ft3
Tuning Freq 25.33 hz
vent dia 10.20cm
vent length 40.15cm

I am not worried about box size and/or dimensions. The sub is to be used for LFE / sub and I would like it to play as low as possible.

The mains have a peak at 65hz and 135hz, there is no filters and they run full range.
The Peaks In the mains are I think from room/cabin gain. I can’t move them around to check, I could block off the ports to see if that makes any difference.

The cross over is all done on my JL Audio 500/1 amp using the P EQ to get it as flat as I can.
Lp filter 12db between 55hz – 65hz
Q = 0.5
Center freq 40hz
Boost +10db
Infrasonic filter on 22hz
Gain is all the way down and set to high voltage and 1 channel is connected, otherwise it is too loud, so the sub is not being pushed at all.
This is in a box designed for a 10w3v2-d4 set @ 2ohm until I get a correct box made for the 10w3v3-2

Are there any benefits from running a slot port, which I would prefer, unless told otherwise, to a tube port?

Thanks
Alan

No, it's for home audio :)

my specs;
Sound card; Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
Speakers; Mission 734, mission 760i, Jamo Center 18.
Sub; Jl Audio 10w3v3-2 in slot port enclosure designed for 10w3v2-d4
Amp; Sony STR-DB930, JL Audio 500/1 powered by Corsair VX 450w PSU

Anything else I forgot to mention lol?

For home LFE it models well in 4 cu.ft. tuned to 22hz. Power required would be 300 watts at 2 ohms with a hi-pass filter at 22 hz. A slot port with 18" of port area (2" x 9") and 21.5" long would handle the porting.

I would be concerned the Corsair VX PSU won't be able to supply the amperage the JL amp will need.

Thanks again Mike.
How did you get those figures? I tried entering the port dimensions, but it comes no where near to what you get :(

The PSU is good for 33A Max :)

Don't forget the gain is nearly all the way down and only 1 channel is connected, so the JL amp is not being pushed at all, or the sub, also the Sony amp doesn't go over 2 on the volume knob.

Can the sub go any lower?

This 10" can only do so much. Tuning it to 20 hz will decrease the output in the 20 - 30 hz range. 4 cu.ft. tuned to 22 hz is the most it can output for LFE in a home environment. You may get some room gain that will add to 20 hz and lower.

Here's the project file for you, save it to the Projects folder in WinISD.

4+ years later...
Going to make the box
I tried to figure out the box dimensions and gave up.
Can you suggest some software?
The bit I didn't get was the slot port length and if it / how it is included/not included in the box volume

Thanks
Alan

Hi Jim,
I was wondering if anyone still frequents this site as it seems a bit quiet.
Thanks for replying.
Winisd gives you the volume ect but not box dimensions and ect.
