I had my girlfriend over to watch a movie with her kids and they would not quit poking my speakers lol. Is there a metal of some kind to put on them so they cant poke through it?

Here in Australia we can get a range of metal grills from 5"to 15" so they should be available stateside.
Here is one http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResults.asp?whichpage=2&pagesize=10&w=speaker+grill&form=KEYWORD
You could also look on ebay.

Might be helpful if you had a pic of the sub or some details. Couple different ways to go functionally and aesthetically...that doesn't involve poking any kids :)
Yep... kids can poke back too... and you probably don't want to lose your girlfriend either.

You might call Dan at ReliableHardware.com ... they use to be a sponsor here. They do custom metal grills and have several different styles.
