Can someone confirm if I need LPCM output from my laptop to run REW? I'm told I need this for bass management to function properly on my Oppo player/prepro. The laptop sound panel only shows the speaker configuration box, so I don't know if I have a choice.

What is the right output signal on a laptop to run REW?

If you have a digital output from your laptop it would typically carry lpcm, to get anything else the signal would have to pass through a software encoder/compressor. REW is typically used with an analog connection, some users with laptop HDMI output use that connection as it may allow individual channels in an HT setup to be selected to carry the test signal.

Thank you, sir. You are correct (as usual), the laptop's HDMI output does carry LPCM, for up 7.1 channels. Bob Pariseau at AVS was able to show me where to find this information on the Oppo. He also tested the Oppo and didn't find anything wrong with the player's Bass Management feature. REW is working fine. Thanks, again.
