Mr. Stompler is an interesting guy. I wish someone close to him would get him to give us a personal update on here. His story HAS to be a good one.
This is my very first post here so first of all hi everybody! :wave:Yes I use the (sub-out) IE: the .1 effects channel to drive the XTi which drives the sub and is connected by an unbalanced RCA to XLR cord.
The problem is that I get a huge discrepancy namely on the value for Sd as given by the manufacturer (27,5m2) and as calculated by WinISD (0,1090m2) as you can see on the picture bellow. This and the missing data for dimensions are a bit of a problem. :duh:
Now back on topic, I guess that the reason for going with the XTi dictated the choice to build a passive subwoofer and not the other way around right? I take from your words that is not easy to get a high quality and powerful enough amplifier to feed these DIY beasts that can be mounted inside and this would be the main if not sole reason for not going active or am I wrong?
Parts express has the Audiopulse Axis 15" and an LMS 15" that I am aware. The LMN series woofers just showed up recently. No word on 18" drivers though. :waiting:man I wish that I would have bought a 5400 when they were still available. Currently have a Maelstrom build and a Avalanch 18. I hear rumors that TC may make a comeback hopefully this is true.
I agree that they do not appear to be replacements per say. More drivers with LMS is a good thing though.I recently noticed the new drivers as well. They do not appear to be a 5400 or LMS Ultra replacement. Perhaps a lower-end line using the same LMS technology. I noticed the BL product is significantly lower.
I was lucky to get my order for the LMS into TC Sounds and get an acknowledgement. While I was waiting for delivery of mine there were other guys that had ordered theirs before I did and hadn't received theirs according to the promised delivery date. It was touch and go for a while. My LMS was delivered on time with only minor damage to the cardboard box.man I wish that I would have bought a 5400 when they were still available. Currently have a Maelstrom build and a Avalanch 18. I hear rumors that TC may make a comeback hopefully this is true.
You are certainly right, at least speaking for myself. By the way, how do those subwoofers compare next to the LMS? Is there any test made around maybe by IKKA?However the DIY market is NOT going to pay twice and certainly not three times the price of a Maelstrom X or an equivalent Avalanche. Am I wrong?
