Belated port of Capcom's sci-fi shooter to feature Nvidia 3D Vision compatibility and DirectX 11 support for smoke, water effects.

PC gamers will finally get the chance to put down the Akrid infestation once again, as Capcom today confirmed Lost Planet 2 will arrive on computers October 15. The game first launched on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May.

Just imagine this monster toad tongue in 3D.

It's not uncommon for Capcom's PC game launches to lag behind their console counterparts, but the publisher typically includes a number of enhancements to make up for the delay. The PC edition of Street Fighter IV received different artistic filters for the graphics, while Capcom added Nvidia 3D Vision support for Resident Evil 5. The PC version of Lost Planet 2 will also be getting the 3D Vision treatment, as well as support for DirectX 11, which will be used for new smoke and water effects.

Set 10 years after the original, Lost Planet 2 picks up in the wake of substantial terraforming on EDN III that replaced the frigid tundra with large swaths of lush forests. Its campaign follows the protagonist and three non-player characters through six chapters, each of which features multiple outcomes that hinge on players' actions.

Lets hope its a bit better received than the console versions then eh. It should be given the extra time theyve had to work on it, but if nothing else, it should look spectacular, as it wasnt a bas looking game to begin with.
