Mach 5 IXL 18.2.2 Box opinions

I am probably going to get the IXL 18.2.2 when they are back in stock...
But until then, I wanted to see what you guys thought about my planned box dimmensions.
It will be 7 cu.ft tuned to 17.99hz so the port lengths can be a quarter multilple like .75 or .25.

The box needs to be the same depth and width to fit in the corner of my room to clear the furniture.
Just to make sure, the 19 inch depth and width are external dimmensions and not internal, correct?

Here is the port lengths and volume:

You need to multiply the port volume 524.6459731494955 (yes, that is the actual number it has) by three due to the three 4 inch ports at 41.75 inches long to keep the tune the same.

And, here is the bracing:

You will need to multiply 54 cubic inches by 2 becuase I was thinking that 2 of those braces would be sufficient? Do you think that I will need more braces or just different dimmensions for them?

Would you guys recommend anything else for me to change? I am not sure how much bracing I would need for this box, so I am hoping someone could help me out there.
Would I need to secure the ports to the bracing? If so, should I just change the bracing number of cutouts to 2 and then just drill a hole big enough for the three 4 inch ports to fit through? Also, I would have the ports exiting through the top of the box...if I changed the cutouts to 2, I would have to change the heighth of the box to compensate for the extra volume taken up. The driver will be down firing. (I'm assuming that the driver will fit with a base plate?) The box will have 1 inch square legs with a <probably> one inch thick baseplate screwed into the legs.

I am open to any suggestions you guys have.

Thank you

Here is another possibility for the box dimmensions:

I would like this one more becuase I will be able to make legs that can fit on it better possibly.

Here is the other bracing:

You will need to multiply 169.5 by 2 due to the two braces. Two cutouts so I can drill holes for the three 4 inch ports. Both of the braces will have the 2 cutouts, and the three holes drilled in them.

Thanks and I am open to any suggestions

Wow, is this gonna be another thread where you reply to yourself 100 times, asking about a driver you don't have the money to buy?
What happened to Shiva-X dream? Not enough bass? Well while you plan your IXL (which is awesome driver for the price) I leave you with picture of mine!

Dual shiva-X sealed - listening position SPL:

Nope...I will have the money in about 2 months. And, it won't be like my other thread. In the other thread, I went from being suggested the Dayton 15" HF to the Mach 5 IXL 18.2.2. If I wouldn't have asked the questions, I would have ordered the Dayton.

Thanks
Jugix, what frequency was that taken at? Just a movie or music, or a test tone?

It was The incredibles movie. Where spacecraft takes off and kids run for cover. Strong signal across 5Hz to 40Hz. It was not intended max-SPL measurement. Just took my meter with me while I watched the movie. Could have gotten 1-1,5 dB more... at least it seemed there were linear excursion left. :)
If I don't have the money and therefore can't get the IXL, I will get the Shiva-X or the Tempest, depending on the price differences between the two.
I can essentially use the same size box for the Tempest, Shiva, and the IXL, just would have to change out the bottom piece of wood, but that's if I just use screws, which I think I will. I will use glue also, but not to seal the bottom piece to the rest of the box.

Thanks

BTW Jugix, nice results on your build :T

The Dayton was suggested to you because your originally statement regarding your budget:

My max budget is $425, but I would like to keep it below $400, if possible.
You changed your mind and different subs were recommended. Moving on.......

Your box plans look fine.
Ah, I forget to edit my post before I left...I would have added the budget part though. My bad

Do you think that the braces are adequate enough? Also, would it be alright to just have two 8.5in wide and long cutouts and just cut the needed holes for the triple 4 inch ports?

Thanks for the help
OK.
Would it be alright to just run two free ends on each port? In WinISD it says that the Port Velocity is the same when I go from two free ends, to one flanged end, to two flanged ends.

Of course velocity is the same. Ports affect wind turbulence.
Of course velocity is the same. Ports affect wind turbulence.
And turbulence increases noise.
So, not having the two flanged ends would create port noise or chuffing?

Thanks
Not automatically. But if the port size/speed is on the verge of making port noise with flared ends, with out them it will make noise.
In WinISD, with three 4 inch ports 42.20 inches long and with two free ends, the port velocity is at 19.43m/s at 16hz. Is that too high to run Free Ends? I have heard to keep the air speed below 21m/s, so I wanted to check.

Thanks
Flared ports under 26 m/s work fine.

Flanged vs. free ends is all about the acoustical length as opposed to the physical length of the port. Look it up in the help files.
I would not make plans on using the IXL. There is no promise they will be available in a few months and when/if they are available they will likely cost more.
Oh, that would suck. I will call them tomorrow and see if they have any price jumps expected for the IXL 18.2.2. :T
