And turbulence increases noise.Of course velocity is the same. Ports affect wind turbulence.

Not automatically. But if the port size/speed is on the verge of making port noise with flared ends, with out them it will make noise. So, not having the two flanged ends would create port noise or chuffing?
Thanks
Have you looked in the classifieds section? There are 4 lightly used Tempest-X's for sale right now I think. Depending on the whole price is a limiting factor thing.Acutally, those were my two driver choices
It mostly depends on which is cheaper, or if one performs much better than the othe for the extra money. I think I would rather go for a 15" in my room, so my dad doesn't think that it will be really crazy, but that 15 is just as good as the IXL 18
Thanks, and I will just go off of what Kevin recommends in the Application Notes for a box size and dimmensions :T May have a few questions on bracing though. I'm anxious to see the new driver model in WinISD...
70 pages of advice over 3 forums and you get surrounds instead of a sub.. classicAlso, I need to get some surround speakers, so I will just get those now,
No... can you imagine how long narrowing down a crossover and 2 or 3 drivers would take if one sub took this much :rofl:
If you are going to build the sub you could build the surrounds. Have you looked at the kits that GR-Research, Madisound and Parts-Express have available? Some of the kits even have the box.

2 Sheets of 3/4 mdf - 50You are correct! I will try to start building the box soon, and just make a bottom "plate" where the driver goes the correct cutouts for both the Tempest-X and the IXL 18.2.2.
I don't know, maybe I will save the money that I was planning on spending on the surrounds, and just spend that on the box. About how much do you think the planned box will cost? I have absolutely no idea, so I am hoping you guys will :T
Is there a program that gives you a idea of how the cutouts should be on the wood? Like it shows a diagram of each piece of wood you would need, and placed it so you can see how many sheets you would need? I'm sorry if that confused you guysThat's the only way I could explain it...
Thanks for the help everybody.
You know these forums have a search feature right?OK thanks. The sub will be on carpet, so I don't think it will move around. Will I need a baseplate if it is on carpet?
Thanks
Yes, content that low is rare but does exist. If you don't account for it you could bottom your sub out when watching movies with content that low.Do I need to worry about going over a drivers Xmax limits below 10hz while modeling in WinISD?
Thanks for the help
http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htmI would just use the Yamaha amp until I can get the Behringer EP2500 and the Reckhorn B-1. How will I change the combined impedence to 4 ohm unless it's already there?
Thanks
