Hello all,

I'm currently using a vintage McIntosh amp, an MC-2200. I haven't sent it in for diagnostics and a freshen up, as it mostly works good. There's some minor problem in the right channel which is corrected by turning down the right gain knob a mm or two.

Anyway, there's this switch called 'Power Guard" on the back and it has positions 'normal' and 'out.' I know it's some sort of anti-clipping circuit but what is the difference between the settings?

yep, I read that earlier before I posted. That's where I got it was an anti-clipping circuit.

I'm wondering what the switch on the back is though. 'normal' or 'out'
