I've got a music file and would like to measure the in-room response when this file is played. Is it possible to do this using REW? And, if not, then does anyone have a recommendation as to other software that could be used for this function?

You can use the RTA (Real Time Analyzer) function in REW with your source or, more commonly, the white noise generator built into REW. The white noise generator is useful to see changes when you move your sub around. Another option is to put the sub in the listening position and move the mic around (The mic is a lot lighter and easier to move)

Cheers,
Bill

Sure, just use the RTA feature. Set up the mic in the room, turn on the music and you’re in business. :T You’ll get a real-time display (although with a slight delay) showing the frequency content of what you’re hearing.
