Hi All,

I am attempting a IC replacement to fix a convergence issue on this set. Got it for $20 from a friend, so thought it would be a good project, as with the IC chips, I shouldn't have more than $75 invested. I am about to remove the main PCB and have a question about the one of the leads to what I understand is the Flyback transformer. There are the three Anode leads, and one other small lead. This small lead is attached differently than the others, it seems to be covered in heat shrink at the transformer. Does it just unplug? I was afraid to pull on it to hard. I wasn't sure if it is "hardwired" in or not. I would post a pic, but I'm new here. No 5 posts yet. ;)

Thanks in advance.

There is no reason to remove the board. Pull the six screws on the light box assembly and one connector and the whole thing comes out Turn it on its side and you can access the bottom of the board.

Great. Thanks lcaillo. Your posts are excellent. I ordered a X480301 Hitachi Kit from Vance Baldwin today, and feel confident about the repair. Is there a thread on cleaning the lenses, mirror, etc. If all goes well, I would also like to do a little more advanced calibration to get the set looking it's best. I looked for a thread, but couldn't find it.

Thanks again.

I have not created any threads with detailed cleaning info. Mr. Bob (Jones) has a lot of info on the matter. Perhaps he would be willing to post it here so that our readers don't have to go to "that other forum" to get his fine info.

Thank you so Much Leonard! Replacing the IC's was a success. It looks great. I now have a 42" Mits for the bedroom that only cost me $81.90.

If possible could you PM me a link or something to Mr.Bob's cleaning info. I searched all over that "other forum" and still can't find anything. The lenses on this set are pretty dusty, so I would like to get it cleared up to see the potential.

Thanks again for your excellent help!

Alan
