I don't know of any kits for this set. ACME or B&D are my preferred vendors, but PACPARTS is another good one who supports our forums. The inductor likely burned due to a bad output IC. Verify all of the voltages at the ICs before you install new ones.

You can run most any set with the chips removed to check the voltages.

Yes, Acme in Orlando.

Your problem will require some troubleshooting. If I was servicing the set, I would refer to a schematic to become familiar with the circuit before I would know where to look for potential problems. As suggested in the sticky, I do not recommend trying to fix a problem without having the documentation. $16 is not a lot to spend to get a manual.

Thank you, but I have the paper copies of the manuals. I also subscrib to several services where I can download most manuals, but I do not redistribute them becuase it violates my contracts and copyright laws. I cannot do specific research and provide specific step by step trouleshooting for the forum. This is clearly beyond the scope of the forum which is intended to provide general information and common symptom repair relationships.

Read the convergence repair sticky very carefully. The first ten posts give a good explanation of the common problems, how the circuits work, and what to check for. You have to have supply voltages and the related parts have to be intact. The schematic will show the layout of the circuit.

A great deal of time goes into creating and udating this information and responding to posts with general advice. If you need step by step help beyond this, you may not be a good candidate for a DIY project at this level and should consult a professional. Not everyone can fix their own set. I (and many other professionals) do this for a living and cannot be expected to walk you through every step and teach you troubleshooting skills long distance. Contact me personally off forum if you need to contract my time.

Don't get frustrated. Take your time and be methodical. Power supplies are the first things to verify. If you don't understand something in general about the process, just ask. I can't go figure it out for you but am very happy to help you understand the basics. Read and re-read that convergence repair sticky (first 10 posts) and make sure you understand how the circuit works. It is just a six channel amplifier with big op-amps in those ICs. Not rocket science. You have inputs and outputs, feedback, a few related caps and resistors and power supplies.

I would have assumed that you tried to correct the problem in the service mode for convergence. That is what it is there for. YOu should look at the values on the parameters in the convergence mode and if any of them are at 127 you may have corrupt data in the EEPROM. If this is the case, record all data and you will need to do an EEPROM reset in the OPTION menu. Then all adjusments will need to be reset and convergence and geometry will have to be done from scratch. This is a BIG deal so DO NOT do it unless sure that it is needed.

Green is the reference and is adjusted in the geometry settings. The red and blue are then converged to the green. You get the green geometry correct, then you adjust the others to it.
