Hey all, how are you? I am in the process of building a new house and want to create a Home system the is multi room controlable, different zones and not break the bank. I hope its possible. I am looking at the Onkyo 3007 and the 5007 since they are such a great price right now.

Just hard to find if these units can be controlled with keypads from each room and have a different signal be sent to different zones, or have a room be a different zone one day and change it the next. EG. Set up the outside and dining area as a zone, or next day have the dining room zone 2 and the outside zone 3?

Any rate looking forward to trolling the posts and try to find the information. If anybody wants to speak up and help me I'm ok with that as well. I have also looked at niles products, I just don't know if I go with niles if it will take advantage of the Onkyo system, or if Im over kill at that point?

anyrate thanks and hello

I have budgeted a start price of about five thousand dollars as a startand once it fully installed to cost about ten grand. For the five grand I would like the head unit, put the writing myself in,i am reusing some great speakers for the theatre room, and some entry level speakers to start in the rest of the house.

As I look and research I see I may have to start small and work into the system I want. The 5000 was just to get sound to a few rooms. To include a DIY wiring job, zone selector and one good Home theater amp like the Onkyo 3007 which seems to be at a good price for now. Trying to figure out the logistic and how it all works together. The industry sure wants to keep it in the hands of the Home Theatre professionals, I am finding some details but nothing that is making it easy to see/understand unless I just go with a niles or the like muiti room system/brain at 35 watts per channel.

A whole house system could be built using products from Russound, Niles, or NuVo
(I prefer them in that order)
I have installed each type. 2 in new construction for and 1 install for already built.
Open frame new construction is most simple but requires extensive planning - add wire in now or pvc conduit to use later its much simpler than fishing wire later.
Use low voltage outlet box's (orange) and put cover plates on until you install the system after the home is built. Put in solid backing 2x4 or 2x6 covered with 3/4" plywood for mounting flat panel tvs, it saves trying to find studs later and allows the tv to be centered. Pre install speaker mounts and cover with plates until needed. Good rule is to run 2 lines of cat 5 for controllers and dont forget outdoors. You have a good budget for a six zone with touch screen controls. Do your homework and plan plan plan, and make a map of what you want where, also keep in mind newer products such as Ipod docks for individual room hook up. Good luck
