Is the set plugged in to an outlet that is live?

Not much to go on with your post. Do you see any LEDs on the front that are lit? Any sound when you hit power? What led to concluding that the lamp needed to be changed? Model number?

Make it more likely to get effective help by giving a reasonable amount of information.

The lights come on and it tries to initialize the bulb, but fails to do so. I’ve checked the bulb and it is good. Could it be the ballast ?

What does this mean? What lights? What does "tries to initialize the bulb" mean? Do you hear the ballast arcing? Does the color wheel spin up?
