Hi All,

I want to build a basic, sealed subwoofer based on either the ACI SV10 or the Eclipse W1238R. The ACI is more expensive, but I would like to know if it is worth it. I am going to be using it for a small surround setup, but my current subwoofer, a Polk PSW10 is too muddy when playing music for my taste. Any advice on starting out on the project is also welcome seeing as I am new to the DIY speaker game.

Thanks

I contacted ACI and they sell the 10" for $160 direct. I could also get the 12" SV12 for I also $182. I was also wondering if it would be stupid to use this as a passive subwoofer and have it powered by my external amp as opposed to building in a cheap sub amp?

Ok thanks. And also, how would I go about designing the cabinet? Sorry to ask such a silly question, but I am a newbie at this.

Thanks for all the help so far Mike, I have another question though. Would using two of these drivers wired in phase be a worthwhile project? Or just a waste of time and money?
