I am new to the forum and new to the diy of subwoofer building. I just bought a new house and I am in the process of finishing the upstairs bonus room for out theater. The room is 26Lx13Wx8H. I have been looking at the different threads for quite sometime and there is a lot of sub choices to pick from. Sub use will be about 50/50 for music and movies. I will prolly find a pro amp to power the sub like the behringer 2500. I was looking at the following sub from audioque and don't know if it would be good or not to use. I do like my music and movies loud at times, that would be a -10 or -15 on the receiver. What are your thoughts on this driver. I called the company and they said a 6cubic ft box would be required but I do not know.

i forgot to add www.audioque.com is the maker of the sub and dj with the company said the internal volume would need to be around 6cu ft and the box be ported. I am use to more pro audio with that tight bass from the kick etc.
It would be more like 8 cu.ft. tuned to 22 hz with a 8 inch diameter port 29 inches long, assuming most the specs are correct. The modeling is shown with 1500 watts input power and a high pass filter at 18 hz.
I don't remember hearing of them before. It's anyones guess if they are a good value or not. I would like to hear from someone who has used this sub in the past.
i think DJ with audioque is somehow related to ?? at digital designs which makes very nice car subs. if they haven't changed then both subs are made on the same assembly line. Looking at the specs does it look like a capable , descent driver to other like the re or maelstrom x?
I wouldn't say it's on the same level as the Maelstrom-X. I get nervous when I see specs like "Useable Throw 3.0", no mention of Xmax which is usually stated at 70% of BL.
If you want a proven performer in that price range then take a look at the IXL-18 from Mach 5 Audio.
I have had a bunch of subs but have never heard of AudioQue either. I am not really into car subs though so that is probably were they butter there bread.
For $250 there are a lot of other choices. I like Mike P's choice of the IXL-18 or you could go with dual 12" subs in the Shiva-X for only $50 more than the single AQ. There on sale now so you might want to snap up a couple before the sale is over.
I don't think you'll find to many people on this forum that would argue against 2 or more subs. Multiple subs are usually always better and in a ported alignment 1 EP2500 should be more than enough.
