sweet, I was just looking everywhere I could think of to find some discussion on these. I also ran across them this morning, id love to find that these live up to their specs so I could replace my pro amp with nice plates with built in dsp.
I just ordered mine today! It will arrive tomorrow night. I'm curious about the hpf options. It looks like it's 24, 20, 16(hz) or sealed. Sealed most likely meaning flat but no one I talked to at parts express or Dayton seemed to have any solid answers. I will report back tomorrow night after I get my hands on it. It's going to power my ultimax 18 that's in a vented alignment tuned to 14 hz.
Here are my test notes. This is with Audio Precision, noninductive loads, 20A breaker.
3mm faceplate powdercoated. No LEDs at all.
no UL. CE. FCC ID 2AF3C-SPA
relays click on power up.
Gain 50.7db on normal, 44.7db on high level.
Signal Sense sensitivity Hi Level 60Hz 40mV channel 1, 22mV channel 2. This is going to be a problem. Switched to Normal level it never turns on!
idle power 38W. Standby power 24W. This is not a Energy Star device!
FANS RUNNING AT LOW SPEED THO BARELY WARM.
POWER PER CHANNEL
640W/8 CLIP LIMITER
1250W/4 CLIP LIMITED NO GACKING
DURING POWER TEST POPPED MY BREAKER. POWER BACK UP AND CHANNEL B NOT WORKING. CH A HAS REPETITIVE BURST NOISE LIKE B IS BURPING. CYCLE POWER AND NEITHER CHANNEL WORKS. AFTER ANOTHER POWER CYCLE B COMES ON EVENTUALLY, NOT A. AFTER A LOOONG POWER CYCLE, THEY BOTH COME BACK ON.
TRYING TO SEE EFFICIENCY. FEW SECONDS FULL POWER AND POW!! BOTH CHANNELS DIED. END OF TEST. RETURN TO PE.
I have the 1200-dsp and it has allot of power. It can push my ultimax 18 past where I feel comfortable that the sub can handle it. 12.5 cu tuned to 15. Mind you I have no kind of measurements to back this up but it seemed to me that it produces the 1200 Watts. I upgraded from a Yung 300 watt boosted to this.
If you want an amp for a diy sub that has a plate amp on the back this is a nice choice. I plugged it right into my avrs sub out and I was good to go. I've had it for about a month now and I'm very happy with this thing. It is just plain out balls to the wall powerful. The only reason I chanced it when I bought this amp was because it was a refurbished and PE was selling it for 350. So it was this or the sa1000 or getting a PA amp and having to buy special wires, cleanboxpro, and a crossover or minidsp. I'm so glad I didn't go the sa1000 route or the headache route.
For the money it seems to me there is only two legitimate choices out there. Get this or a inuke/other PA amp and all the things needed to get it to work. Probably spending close to the same amount of money but much more time and energy.
That is a true statement. I guess it really depends on what your looking for though. I installed the small controller On the front of my subwoofer box. So wherein I turn everything on a little box on the front lights up and says loading. That's so cool to me. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I wonder why the guy from earlier said that there was no LEDs. There's 3. Is he looking at the same amp I am
I got lucky when they had one returned/refurbished. I think I paid like 363 or something like that. 600 was out of my price range at the time. But I think 600 as long as this is exactly what your looking for. But if all you care about is power for the money a berhringer if the way to go.
