That's a tall order. $500 to hit low and fill a 23' x 26' x 8' room requires a fairly large sub. Would a 11 cu. ft. enclosure have a "high wife acceptance factor"?

Sonotube or box, your choice. The Dayton Titanic 15 with the HPA 500 watt amp and 2 four inch flared ports works out to be a bit over $500. In 11 cu.ft. tuned to 18 hz would be the best you can do for your budget.

Just some additional food for thought on how much output is "room filling" since everyone's taste is different.

Agreed. I'm willing to bet two 12 inch 315's in a 23' x 26' x 8' room wouldn't do it most people.

As the hot rodders say, how fast can you afford to go?

Indeed. It took a pair of ported 15" Atlases and a pair of ported 18" IXL's in a 15' by 26' room to achieve the "effortless bass" at the levels I like.

Definitely doable if he's willing to get a sub with no warranty and have the high pass filter modified on the amp.
