Hi, I've bought a Onkyo tx-sr700e. When I switch it on, it goes into protect mode, even with nothing connected to it. What could be the problem?

Try resetting the receiver via page 78 of your user manual:

Hold down the Video 1 button with your receiver turned on. Then press the Standby/On button. "Clear" should appear on the front display.

If that doesn't work you can try and unplug it for 15 minutes or more.

Short of that it may need to be looked at by a tech.

Thanks. Found the faullt. One of the semiconductors on the heatsink is faulty. ]
