I currently have a SVS PB12+2 and am considering purchasing a used SMS-1. Any opinions on how the SMS-1 would improve bass response with just the one sub? Someday I hope to expand to a second sub, but that's further down the road. Just wondering if using with my one SVS sub will be worth the coin. Thanks

Here there mufsoman,

The SMS-1 will make a significant improvement in your sub’s response, as will any parametric equalizer unless you’re one of those fortunate few whose room delivers nearly perfect bass response. Naturally, it’s advisable to first find the best location for the sub in your room, the one that delivers the best unequalized output and extension. No equalizer can fully compensate for poor placement.

There are various subwoofer equalizers available. I have used the SMS-1, AntiMode, Neptune EQ and the SVS AS-EQ1. All of them have pros and cons (for example, some need the use of a laptop/computer and others do not). In terms of sheer ease of use, the Neptune, SVS AS-EQ1 and AntiMode are the winners, hands down but if you want the ability to manually tweak, then the SMS-1 is better. I personally preferred the SVS AS-EQ1 and Neptune to the others.
