New woofer coming out from Mark Just wanted to let others know. Carbon Fiber cone Phase plug and much more useful at above 200hz than the UXL. This subwoofer from what I have heard was more geared towards SQ.

Mark again has made another amazing product.

Any attempt at higher than usual subwoofer response range, and a phase plug, for a high excursion 18" sub? :coocoo: It is laughable to see why it's named the "phallus," but I'm just not seeing the point in marketing a sub like that to be useful for the bottom of a 3-way.

It looks like an interesting sub but after Mark laughed about calling it the Phallus I am surprised he actually called it that. How many guys do you know are interested in buying an 18" Phallus? Not any straight ones.

Just a quick sim.

I wouldnt use this sub very high up with 28mm Xmax. Unless you like a Darth Vader sound from vocals. The AE 18H has about 16mm and does fine but 28mm I am not sure. I also was thinking that this woofer is geared more towards the TC Sounds 18" Ultra.

$600 for the woofer including shipping within North America.]

Wattage is 4600 for the UXL and 1750 for the Phallus to hit Xmax at 10hz sealed designs.
UXL 2.258cuft Q .7

Phallus 3.212cuft Q .7

Interesting, thanks for running the quick comparison. I, for one, would never consider a high power sealed design with a phase-plug driver... Let alone a 1000W+ subwoofer LOL. Perhaps it'd be best to only consider the phallus for vented alignments.

From Marks other designs he seems to like ported cabinets for is drivers.

[/IMG]
Ported:
6cuft 20hz tune 1100watts to hit Xmax with 15hz Hpass 2nd order

Sealed
3cuft
.718 Q
1900 watts to hit Xmax at 10hz

Simple throw together designs. Just a simple comparison to show what you can get out of the subwoofer in a sealed or ported cabinet.

Looks like a decent driver. Would love to be able to hear a bunch of the different 18's that are out to really compare the SQ of the different approaches. $600 is a bit of coin but good xmax and looks like good build quality

I have purchased 2 18" Phallus and 4 18" Acoustic Elegance TD18 and have built 2 13CF ported boxes and 2-3CF sealed boxes and think ing about building 2 more 6-8CF ported to play with. If anyone wants to model them I would be happy to build the boxes.

Did you have a thread on this build already or no?

SO you have some BC, AE and Mach 5 subs......envious. Use the AE/BC as 40-45hz bassmonsters. Then add double the subs for ULF to keep up. :D

The break down on my gear is as follows:

- B&C 8X21 with XO-1 crossovers in custom box for my rears
- B&C 8CXN51 with 2- AE TD12 with a passive crossover for my center
- 2 - B&C 8CXN51 with 2- AE TD12 with 3 Behinger DSP3000 for my left and right running is DSP mode (but I can't get it to sound right so I am thinking about ordering 2 more passive crossovers from Solen)
- Behinger DSP6000 running 2 Mach 5 Phallus in 13CF ported boxes

I have just ordered 4 AE TD18 that I would like to run 2 in sealed boxes and 2 in ported boxes.
