hope someone here can help us out...
Our 7 year old SD533HD5 finally bit the dust a couple of weeks ago. It has been a fantastic tv and we really would love to keep it in the family.
Anyway....over the last couple of years it has exhibited the dreaded 'not coming out of standby' problem, easily fixed by replacing the 4A 125V fuse in the power board. This would usually happen after a power outage or if somebody switched on the TV within 5 mins of switching it off.
The most recent time this happened however the fuse fix did not work and it would repeatedly blow the replacement with the 'def assy' fault led lit on the power board.
So I read up on here and other places that the most likely cause was the convergence amps. So I ordered 2 stk392-180's from ACME plus a replacement for a diode that had discolored the PCB right next to the blown fuse.
I replaced the chips and diode, checked my work for spills/bridges and loose connectors and put it all back together.
After powering up the tv stayed on green for several seconds longer than before then reverted to standby. I switched the power on and the fuse promptly blew. I replaced the fuse and tried again...this time we got picture but the convergence is shot....especially blue...also no sound on any input.
hmmm....faulty convergence IC's? or did they just blow again as something in the possibly faulty power supply shoots too much current?
Funnily enough we never had any convergence issues with the tv before it died.
Any ideas guys?
