I would use the turntable in Line Out mode, using the turntable's built-in preamp, based primarily on the price range of the NAD unit and the likelihood that its preamp circuitry is not anything special.
Understood. I was using that as a gauge of relative circuit quality. I am guessing the quality of the preamp in the turntable is the higher of the two, would use it. Plus that way the interconnect is a line level signal, a minor plus, so the high impedance cartridge signal has a shorter path before getting buffered and amplified.
