A little something i found out working on a RCA with no sound,Some are very easy fix.On most RCA with the tuner built on the board.

Look under the board to the right side near the top.Look for Q903 a very small black 3 prong chip.
Take this chip out and the sound will be restored.
Has worked on low sound to.

I have fixed many RCA TV's with no sound doing this.

There is more to the story. This chip is in the muting circuit, and many sets will have a thump at turn on or off when you remove this transistor. The problem is not the transistor but the corrupt data in the EEPROM. The correct fix is to fix the corrupt data or replace the EEPROM and reprogram the set so that it works properly. Removing the transistor is a patch, or useful for troubleshooting purposes, but should not be considered a complete nor professional manner of repair.
