I'm interested in understanding more about the various types of IR Windowing, and how/why they should be used. i.e. Tukey, Blackman, etc...

The instructions just mention how to change the default settings, but don't say anything about what the different types of windowing do.

Are there any resources that could help?

Sorry about the delayed reply. This paper gives a good overview, though for most REW measurements you should stick with REW's defaults. It may be necessary to change window settings on the RTA though, for the reasons mentioned in the paper. As a rule of thumb for the RTA use the Rectangular window when measuring any kind of noise signal and Hann when measuring tones.
