Welcome to the Shack!

Tell us about the room...wall/ceiling/flooring color.

What are your viewing conditions...is the room fully light-controlled, or is their ambient light (and if so, how much)?

What is the seating distance, and what size screen do you want (if you know that already)?

There's some great resources on this board, but they need this basic information before giving you input.
We'll need a little information, such as desired screen size, room dimensions, how far back the projector will be... will it be ceiling mounted... what are the lighting conditions like? Controlled or uncontrolled?

If you are planning on ceiling mounting the projector, a retro-reflective glass bead screen is out. You won't get any of the benefits of the screen properties with a ceiling mounted setup.
oops, cynical beat me to it!

Small room - 16' x 12' x 8'
2 windows with shades. Dark at night (isn't it most places?) :dunno:
Likely mounted on a platform behind the viewers, distance to screen 10'-12'.
Looking at various portable screens 50" to 70" wide.
The EP719 can only really be table mounted ~6" bellow the bottom of the screen or ceiling mounted ~6" above the screen. This projector has no lens shift so minor tilting and keystone correction my be required.

I am familiar with this projector because my neighbor has one. I have been impressed with the image my neighbor is producing with it and a matte gray screen.

From the review you can see that it fairly bright when optimized for video viewing. As the review indicates a good brightness and contrast calibration is advisable. We used the THX optimizer utility with good results.

Do you require a portable screen?

What colors are the walls, ceiling, and flooring?

I assume you have the projector already?
Unfortunately it is not going to be a permanent set up. I'll be getting a portable screen. Ceiling is off-white, the walls are kinda peach to salmon, and the floor is covered by an oriental rug with predominate red. The projector will be on loan to me for a while. Is the THX optimizer utility something one can run from a laptop computer? What about the Monster/ISF HDTV Calibration Wizard DVD?
I don't see why you couldn't run the THX optimizer from a laptop. As for the Monster/ISF DVD, it makes a good frisbee! Seriously, I've heard nothing good about it. If you could find someone with an Avia or DVE disk, that would be much better.
