I am planning to purchase a pair of subs by the end of the year, and want to be thorough about considering all options.
While I am convinced that DIY gets a better product for less money, I don't see myself getting much shop time in the near future.
However, if there is a good option using something like the cabinet kits from Parts Express, I have no problem with gluing, screwing, adding a brace or two, and cutting holes for the driver and plate amp.
My criteria are as follows:
1) Compact - Sealed design (would like to keep it under 18" in any one dimension and closer to 15 or smaller for the others).
2) 100% Music only -
a) Articulation is my major objective.
b) SPL not a big factor - I find 95dB peaks (C-weighted, fast response) is as loud as my ears go before the music becomes an assault, so I can sacrifice output/SPL for articulation/budget.
c) Extension is not a big factor - As a reference, the SVS SB12-Plus offers adequate extension.
3) Budget - Right now, I am looking at the Rythmik F12G for ~$1400/pair. I could spend more, if an improvement in sound quality was available.

So, is there anything that comes to mind? I'd appreciate any thoughts, links, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you!
Do you know what the practical difference between the AV15-X and the AV15-H is?
Given my limited cabinet size and lack of concern over extreme low extension or SPL, do you think a 12" might work better?

I don't understand most of the specs, but is there a way to tell if the same motor structure is used for both the 12" and the 15" versions? The AV12-X weighs in at 36lb and the AV15-X weighs in at 37lb so I'm guessing they might have identical motors and the 1 lb difference is in the extra frame and cone for the 15" unit. They also both have the same stroke - Xmax = 23mm. The magnet structure doesn't look different in the photos, but it wouldn't be unusual for them to use the same photo for both products.

Anyone else - other suggestions? Or is this a clear choice for the AV?
