Shiva Sub Set up

3029 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  drdoan
About 6 years ago I built a vented 142 liter sub enclosure using a 12" Shiva sub as per specs provided by Adire Audio. The sub has performed OK but I'm not convinced it is set up properly or it is performing as best it can. Does anyone have experience with this sub and design? It is powered by a 250 watt plate amp, see picture. I have since misplaced the manual for the amp and it has no make or model so if anyone has the manual or can direct me where I can find one that would be great.

Thanks for reading and any advise or help would be appreciated.

First off welcome to the site! I've not personally heard the Adire sub you have, but I know one of the keys to subwoofers is location. Location, location, location. Location makes/breaks a sub (and speaker) sound entirely.

Another thing you may want to look at is a parametric equalizer to help flatten your frequency response curve. Behringer makes a few good ones. Also if you are looking at an autocalibration type EQ, then SVS's AS-EQ1 is a good alternative that seems to be getting rave reviews!
The amp was purchased from Creative Sound Solutions.
I'll get the owner of CSS to join in here, he would probably know which amp it is.
Hi,

That looks like a version of what Adire sold as the AVA250. The functionality is identical even though the picture I have on file shows the connector and heatsink portions switched. It was also sold by MCM for a while. I'm not sure that a manual is available or really needed as I don't recall there being any additional functionality other than what is clear from the controls pictured.
