Well work got in the way of the build for a few day's but it is now sanded and ready for primer. I hope I can get it primed and wet sanded this weekend and then painted next week.

I just finished with the primer. I used auto primer and put three coats of it on with a wet sanding in between coats. It looks great so I will start final paint tommorrow.......:yay:

Looking good! That sanding sure seems to be a ton of work, but it will be worth it to get the finish you desire. It's nice when you find a good combination of sandpaper and sander. I have found that it doesn't often pay to scrimp on sandpaper. The cheap stuff may look like a good deal, but if it only lasts 1/10th as long as the good stuff, and doesn't work well, that's just not worth it.

Out of curiosity, why did you use birch for the front and back if you're just going to paint it? It would make sense to me if you were painting the front and back, but only lightly, so you still could see the woodgrain. It doesn't appear that's your goal.

Thanks, I really just used the birch because I didn't have any other use for it. Well anyway it is finished and for my first build I think it came out OK. I haven't spent any time on it yet but I took a before eq and after eq pic to see how it looked. I don't know if I will build a grill for it but that I can do later if I choose. It was alot of work with all the sanding so I think the next one will be done with wood only or maybe a veneer. Oh well here are the pics, what do you guy's think?

Careful not to get crazy with War of the Worlds or something. You have enough power to pop the driver. For movies the ported build gives you substantially more output down around 20Hz.

Sealed designs are always going to struggle compared to ported when you consider output.

In this enclosure what would be the max power I should run?

You don't need any more than about 500W on a Shiva-X. If you look at simulations people will base their amplifier needs based upon what it takes to get to X-max. That isn't necessarily wise because program material is transient in nature. Your amp is capable of more than it's RMS rating in short transient burst and if you get something in the movie that calls upon huge output and you have the power on tap, the driver will do it's best to try and carry out it's end of the bargain.

Go read my Sticky on power handling because that is a good read for anyone building a sub. I'd limit your power by just using one channel of the EP2500. That is more than enough power.
