My Mitsubishi WD-52725 has developed a picture problem. Short purple or magenta horizontal lines show up when the picture displays very dark areas. They kind of flicker, it almost looks like interference. It seems like they get a bit worse as the set heats up.

It is hooked up via the HDMI input. I have swapped in a new HDMI cable, no change in picture quality. I do get the blinking green light whenever my AC power goes out, but it does recover if I unplug it for a few seconds.

My questions is: Is this picture problem related to the much written about capacitor problem? Or is this something else?

Being in Central Wisconsin I have no Authorized Service Techs in my area, and the set is nearly five years old. I am very handy with a soldering iron (I build electronic circuits) and willing to swap parts if someone can point me in the right direction.

Call Mitsubishi and find our who they want you to take it to. It likely needs a chassis rebuild.
