Small sized receiver for hiding?

I want to hide a receiver in a cabinet on the other side of a living room wall. My idea is to feed all of the cables from the receiver into the wall and into speakers placed in the ceiling in the living room, this way the living room will not need a cabinet for the receiver. The last receiver I bought was about seven years ago, the Denon AVR-3808CI and it is way larger than I am imagining for something like this. What I'd like is a much physically smaller, lighter weight unit that will still be able to power a large living room home theater. Does anything like this exist?
