Here's a graph of my Denon 3808 sub channel captured from the preout, purple line is stereo, blue line is direct. All settings are the same for both modes.

Any ideas whats going on with the stereo mode??

When in direct mode, how does the sub channel perform a crossover (as indicated) without converting the signal to digital? Presumably it still must pass through the ADC and then the DSP and then the DAC to accomplish crossover. Is that still considered direct?

I remember reading a post on AVS from DenonJeff a few years back, apparently the Denons duplicate the analog signal, convert one of them to digital and send to the sub with BM, the other stays as analog and is sent to the mains.

Hakka.
