Hi,

I am going to try this later today, but I cannot use lower than --15 master volume before clipping. It was suggest I lower the mic level in windows down from 100, which makes perfect sense.

Do I need to do anything with the preamp level I send the test signal too, or can it stay at 100 while the other is reduced?

No, you don't need to do anything with the preamp if you are adjusting the volume with the master volume on your processor. As far as input volume setting with UMIK is concerned, see this post.

I am not sure I will mess with the high db stuff, but the pointer about windows 8, changing to db's, and making the Umik-1 0.0 instead of 24db was helpful!
