Good afternoon.
Set REW 5.0 on an old (very) IBM laptop with Windows XP and Java 2SE-5.0. Using a 24-bit sound card E-MU 0404 USB with "native" drivers.
The problem is - when an item is selected E-MU 0404 in the Input Device And Input message appears: "Unable to access the selected device: Javax.sound.sampled.LineUnavailableExeption: E-MU 0404 | USB does not have any lines supporting PCM.SIGNED 44100.0 Hz, 16 bit, stereo, 4 bytes / frame, little-endian ". Of course, not possible to select the Microphone in the lower window.
With this program work (acoustic measurements) over 2 years - no problems, however, the laptop was a little more modern.
What do you think?

The problem might be a mismatch caused by using an older version of the Java Run-Time Environment ( you're using 5.0 ) & maybe ( up-to-date ) soundcard drivers that expect JRE V-6 or newer/better .

I'd say, ( at the very least ) update your Java 5 version to the latest version of 6 .

XP will also run Java RE 7 just fine .

I keep both JRE 6 & 7 active .

:sn:

Latest Java 6 & 7 updates
