I have 4 "resonant engineering" sx 15's there specs are
Electrical Q Value -Qes: 0.38
Mechanical Q Value -Qms: 4.7
Total Speaker Q Value -Qts: 0.38
Free Air Resonance -Fs: 27.8 Hz
Equivalent Compliance -Vas: 126.3 liters
One-Way, Linear Excursion -Xmax: 22 mm
Efficiency -SPL 1W/1m: 90.4 dB SPL
Effective Piston Area -Sd: 810 cm^2
DC Resistance -Re: 1.9 ohm
Nominal Impedance -Znom: Dual 2 ohm
Thermal Power Handling -Pe: 1000 W
Force Factor -Bl: 21
Are these worth using for my HT build? I would prefer to build a large ported box but am open to suggestions anybody have any? My living room / kitchen (open floor plan) is about 39 ft x 19ft with 10 foot ceilings. For power I am thinking of 2 behringer 2500's.
If the parameters are accurate then they do quite well. Shown is 2 of the subs in 12 cu.ft tuned to 20 hz fed by an EP2500 with a hi pass filter at 18 hz. A 8" diameter round port 22" long would deal with the port air speed. 2 of these subs would be impressive.
thanks mike, I have built many boxes for car audio and one thing you never see any more are round ports, in my experience I have always had less "port noise" with slot ports in my builds, is there a reason HT guys still use round ports? Just for the ease of build factor?
These subs have always impressed me I had 4 of them in a 20cf ported box tuned to 30hz in an extended cab truck with 1000 RMS going to each. Thanks again.
