Cancelled Ubisoft PS3 Exclusive Shows Massive Potential
08/08/2010 Written by Ray Conley

Yes, it’s true. Believe it or not, there are some (if not many) game titles that will get the axe – for better or worse. Sometimes, these decisions to cancel titles save us from potential disasters, while there are some others that should have been given a chance (Duke Nukem anyone?). When we do receive word of a canceled game, it’s hard not to question the outcome. But since we really “can’t judge a book by it’s cover,” we’ll never really know.

The fate of one particular Ubisoft title began to find some publicity once word got out that it received the guillotine treatment. The unannounced title, known as Gorilla Nation, was going to be a third-person shooter, set in London during the year 2032, at a time when humans and robots cohabited with each other. After viewing some amazing screens and a YouTube video clip that found its way to the public, we can only wonder as to why Ubisoft made the call to pull the plug, as no explanation was given.
While the video and images below appears to be a target render, perhaps the goal to achieve that level of incredible detail may have been too ambitious for the developers. Sadly, it looks like we will be missing out on something that could have been a spectacular showcase for the PS3 and another notch for Ubisoft. But as stated before, we’ll never really know.

Shame that as it looked pretty good from that trailer, assuming of course that was running on a PS3 kit and was the game engine. It did look like one of those render jobs though. Ubisoft dont seem to have that much love for PS3, which is a real shame.

Tell me about it, I have a funny feeling when they decide to drop something on the PS3 it will be horrible. Ubisoft is treating the PS3 as if it was a Sega Saturn.

Is it me, or does it smack of laziness. Maybe the Ubisoft business model is giving target development times, and they are simply going to watch everyone else do the hard work first.

No, your only in thinking this, it seems with each passing console gen they get worse IMO.
