It's a bad video, but this is what it's doing.


The guy I got it from had the local TV repair shop out to look at it. He reports as follows: "they said something about a capacitor, or something like that, and that it'd be $200 or so."

So, that's great info. Might as well be blinker fluid or a thermal gonkulator, as descriptive as that is.

I'd love to have a jumping off point for this troubleshooting process as the thing still makes an image, so I hate to throw it out.

Look for coolant leaks onto the boards very carefully in this set. It is very common. Also, look for bad solder connections and check for capacitors on the low voltage regulators and main power supply secondary going bad.
