Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
7-Eleven Red-Box UHD Blu-ray rental
With Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Is Spider-Man: No Way Home A comedy?

Spider-Man no way has home too much humor, so therefore the dramatic scenes didn't work so well .This MCU's humor distracts from emotional scenes, downplaying what should be dramatic moments with endless quips.
The movie needed more Zendaya

Is Spider Man: No Way Home' Is a Supercharged, Cracked-Mirror MCU Buddy Comedy? Yes .

Willem Dafoe

My Spider-Man Pinball machine June 2007
This is were the movie shines brightest ;bringing together past decades of Spider-Men. Uniting Tom Holland's Webslinger with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions, the film is an absolute joy for Spidey fans. This is where the movie really picked up the pace and nostalgia rush is when they introduce the past generations of Spider-Man in particular Tobey Maguire with a decent dose of William Dafoe for good measure !!! Dafoe and Maguire are the scene stealers in the movie.
The second half of the movie I did a 180 and I started really really enjoying the film. Interaction between the past villains and the past Spider-Man from a generation of films really was a brilliant idea. This film not only appeals to fans of Marvel, but to Science Fiction fans as well. And I appreciate it for what it is Block Buster popcorn fun. First 1.5 hours 6/10 Last Hour of film 8/10 I have decided to add this 4K/Blu-ray to my collection after writing this review It appears I enjoyed this movie more than I expected after first watching it , go figure.

Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens the doorway to the multiverse, including alternate versions of himself, whose threat to humanity is too great for the combined forces of Strange, Wong, and Wanda Maximoff.
This movie has horror elements and is ghoulishly weird ;that may keep it out of the top of the plebeians MCU list, good thing I'm not a pleb, make no mistake about it, this is one of my favorites ! I guarantee the suits got involved a toned down what Raimi probably really wanted but .......Sam Raimi is back in full horror mode "to best of his ability" with the MCU's latest installment , Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is a very different Marvel movie than whatever has come before it in both tone, action, and comedy, all hailing from the maestro of comedy-horror movies ,Sam Raimi. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness echo creative choices from Raimi's The Evil Dead films, Army of Darkness, Darkman, and even Drag Me To Hell. I own all four films on Blu-ray disc. This movie is sensory overload to watch it all unfold. If you like your science fiction with a heavy dose of first class CGI , it is mind blowing in this film.

This sequel takes place a few months after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home that follows Doctor Strange crossing paths with a young woman named American Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who has a super unique power that catches the eyes of every one of the Mystic Arts. Xochitl Gomez is a scene stealer !

It turns out that there is an evil demon hot on her pursuit that wants to drain her power and take over all universes. This sets the course for Doctor Strange and America to travel the multi-verse in search of safety and an ancient book the Darkhold (Classic Raimi ! remember the Necronomicon in the Evil Dead film series) that might be the key to stopping this evil.

There are some great characters and cameos that show up, along with Wanda Maximoff (
Elizabeth Olsen) back in action since her stint on the popular Wanda Vision Disney+ TV show. Raimi uses these cameos well and is not just a one-note, few-second reveal. I do not watch trailers if I don't have to or read reviews I like to go in blind to most movies I see , so I was tickled pink with some of the nostalgic cameos it really was well done. One in particular was over the top for me as a fan of her work. I will just reveal one ,like any one on this forum really cares anyway or my thought for that matter indulge me . Wait till you see Haylay Atwell's bad *** costume !
You will just have to watch the movie to see all of the nods and winks that Raimi packs into this film.
And mid credit scene had a very nice Cameo surprise ![SPOILER="Mid-credit Cameo "]

Doctor Strange may have gotten top billing but this is just as much a movie about Wanda Maximoff of Earth 616 (aka the main MCU) , and (Elizabeth Olsen) came to play ! She was the highlight of the film. Olson turned on the her dark and brooding; not afraid to get bloodstained. Did she ever look fabulous on the IMAX screen is (approximately 62 by 82 feet) in 3D no less.

This film has many things going for it . It is outside the box far from the formulaic and usual pattern of a movie in the MCU , amazing production value , very talented cast chalked full of fun cameos and fan service . Action-packed sequences, dives deep into multitude of multiverses . Sam Raimi’s direction is tight with a more visceral approach. Most of all this is an entertaining piece of Sci-fi most fans of the genre should enjoy.

No Man of Her Own (1950)
Turner Classic Movies
A case of mistake identity turns into a grand deception as a new mother tries to secure a better life for her child.
Barbara Stanwyck and Lyle Bettger in No Man of Her Own (1950)
Crazy Uber-noir story , beginning, shockingly, with a 40-something Stanwyck pregnant, penniless, and sobbingly begging at the skid row apartment door of the despicable louse (Lyle Bettger) who knocked her up. Her name is different, too, but how exactly she has a new identity thrust upon her is merely the outrageous set-up; eventually, once Stanwyck embraces her new life amid the nouveau riche with her new b a s t a r d baby, Bettger her x- louse lover, comes crawling back into the picture, and blackmail spawns far nastier business. Lyle Bettger plays one of the nastiest most worthless characters you'll ever see on film. This guy has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Helen Ferguson, pregnant, penniless and dumped by her boyfriend Steve Morley, takes the identity of the pregnant Patrice Harkness, when she and her husband are killed in a train crash. The rich Harkness in-laws, and their other son Bill, had never seen Patrice, so they accept her and her and her child.

No Man of Her Own is Barbara Stanwyck's show all the way. The 1950 film is a throwback to Stanwyck's hard-bitten Depression-era melodramas. Leave it to Barbara Stanwyck to make this film noir work on every level. She's incredible here not used to seeing Barbara Stanwyck playing such a vulnerable and pitiful character. Barbara Stanwyck is so good at playing rough-sharp tongue women, characters with a cynical edge, that it's easy to take her presence here for granted. You feel nothing but empathy as Stanwycks' character here , She is brilliant .

This film is a compelling blend of visual and audial atmosphere, heavy emotional themes and a wide swath of Hollywood acting styles. Its coincidences and baroque twists pile atop each other. It is genuinely odd,a mixture of noir elements, soap-opera, sentimentality and style, No Man of Her Own is a remarkable achievement from one of the peak years of film noir 1950.

The Duke (2020)
Release Date (Theaters):
Apr 29, 2022 Limited
For Mothers day I took my Mom to the oldest standing movie house left in Colorado Springs The Peak opened in the former State Bank building on June 19, 1937
This theater automatically gets five stars because of the movies it shows: those small, but GOOD, independent films nobody else does.

In 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60-year old taxi driver, stole Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. It was the first (and remains the only) theft in the Gallery's history. Kempton sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly -- he had long campaigned for pensioners to receive free television. What happened next became the stuff of legend. Only 50 years later did the full story emerge -- Kempton had spun a web of lies. The only truth was that he was a good man, determined to change the world and save his marriage -- how and why he used the Duke to achieve that is a wonderfully uplifting tale.

A charming, understated and completely enjoyable British independent film. There are some great scenes of London in the sixties and use of the split screen which was all the rage at the time.
Great jazz score of early 1960’s .
Watching Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren costar in this real-life comedy-drama is genuine fun. A charming Ealing-style sensibility (London Borough of Ealing) to the retelling of the infamous 1961 heist.

Skyfire (2019) (Eng Dub)
This movie is entirely Chinese-produced, and dubbed in English. With very beautiful Asian women for good measure.
Ordered Blu-ray but watched via

Director: Simon West
Starring: Xueqi Wang, Hannah Quinlivan, Shawn Dou, Jason Isaacs

Director West (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables 2, Con Air) making a move to China to help boost his employability, bringing some western technique to eastern audiences makes excellent use of the film's set pieces, from runaway trams to spectacular underwater lava spills. Set in the volcanic paradise of Tianhuo Island (located in the "Ring of Fire"-the world-famous Pacific Rim volcanic belt.

The idea behind "Skyfire" is to be wowed by the suspense and mass destruction. With Skyfire, Come for the Erupting Volcanoes. We get plenty of death and destruction to satiate that part of my liking of disaster movies. Where Skyfire excels is with its special effects. The smoke, fire and lava all look fairly convincing and very hot. Nearly every shot of the film seems filled with something that can kill you.
The story is utter nonsense. Let's build a theme park in a volcano ! A young scientist invents a cutting-edge volcanic warning system and returns to the tropical island where her mother tragically died, hoping she can prevent future deaths. The island is now home to the world's only volcano theme park and resort, the brainchild of its reckless owner. Chaos soon erupts when the once-dormant volcano starts to rumble. It's a battle with nature to get off the island while fiery death and destruction rains down from the mountain.
If you like disaster films like 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow, this is a film that is up your alley . The women are very attractive so there is that too.

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone is a timeless beauty and every so charming. Her work in Casino and Total Recall is burned into my memory.

I really enjoyed this intro from Sharon Stone April 2020 when the pandemic first broke out.

Miss Congeniality. Are you afraid of being called a punk, wimp, or sissy?
I am not .
Real men watch chick flicks :)

Miss Congeniality (2000)

An F.B.I. Agent must go undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant to prevent a group from bombing the event.

Director:Donald Petrie
Writers:Marc Lawrence, Katie Ford
Stars:Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt, Candice Bergen , William Shatner , Heather Burns

A tough cop who makes an ugly-duckling transformation in order to go undercover at a beauty pageant. Bullock never for a second looks less than a Hollywood A list star, even when made up to look like a dog. Which is hard to do as Sandra is a total knock-out. But who wants believable when there's fun to be had?

Nominated for 2 Golden Globes. Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical Sandra Bullock
Best Original Song - Motion Picture Song: "One in a Million"

This fluff gimmick comedy, about a tough female FBI agent who goes undercover at a beauty pageant, would not be anything noteworthy were it not for Sandra Bullock's performance, who comes across as quite genuine and therefore elicits my sympathy. Michael Caine also does a fantastic job, adding some class to the proceedings. The script does the rest, which is funnier than it has any right to be. This movie is a real charmer.

Sandra Bullock's facial expressions, physical comedy, comedic timing, really lift this film above the mediocrity of the genre ,it is a very fun film. Sandra Bullock is a very funny actress. Miss Congeniality was quite the pleasant surprise.

Skylines (2020)
Blu-ray & Netflix

The film's star Lindsey Morgan (The 100) proves that she can carry an action role with grace and ferocity. Skylines would best be enjoyed by those entertained by the Transformers movies, and perhaps those who enjoy the sci-fi military satire stylings of Paul Verhoven (Starship Troopers, Total Recall). The movie feels like a B-grade sci-fi movie of the 90's. A sci-fi flick on par with Syfy channel quality as far as storyline, acting, and aesthetic. Not necessarily a bad thing ! I dig SYFY channel.

Rose Corley (Lindsey Morgan) was born while her mother was in alien captivity, so somehow her physiology was mutated in the process. She became the aliens' Achilles heel, who led the Earth forces to their ultimate victory. Unfortunately, it was not a clean win. There was a lot of collateral damage, because she froze at a key moment. Nevertheless, she is Earth's best warrior, thanks to her X-Men-ish powers, so hard-charging General Radford recruits her back into active service. When a virus threatens to turn the now earth-dwelling friendly alien hybrids against humans, Captain Rose Corley must lead a team of elite mercenaries on a mission to the alien world in order to save what's left of humanity.

Apart from some obvious green screen and a couple of misfires, the effects are quite well done considering the film's budget and the sheer number of them. I do wish they'd done more of the gore effects without CGI.Skylines” easily keeps viewers entranced with visual effects and set designs are leaps and bounds beyond its relatively modest budget.

The reason why I bought this blu-ray was for Lindsey Morgan , she was my favorite character in (The100) and she is a bad a.s.s.here too. And Hey! Rhona Mitra ( The Last Ship) is in it ! She is !
Lindsey Morgan as Capt. Rose Corley is Both Human & Alien

There is nothing like Rhona Mitra firing machine guns and pistols and murdering monsters. Does the plot even matter when Rhona Mitra & Lindsey Morgan star in an alien sci-fi ? Not really , this is just popcorn CGI fun with multiple firearms and many monster kills !

Do you like post -apocalyptic YA Sci-Fi ? The 100 is one of the best !
Make no mistake, this is science fiction at its best and is 100 per cent the real deal. The elements and stories it is telling are deeply rooted in science fiction.
Set 97 years after a nuclear war destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity's lone survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth, hoping to repopulate the planet.
At its best, The 100 was among the most innovative and unique sci-fi shows found on television. At its worst, it tried to do too much and overextended its reach. Regardless, there was never a dull moment. If you want big battle scenes, heart pounding action sequences or literal “cliffhanger” rescues? This show has it in spades. While it may air on the small screen, the action sequences easily make the viewer feel as if you’re watching on the silver screen instead. Before you scoff at the idea of getting into a show that airs on the CW think again. This show is not just for teens overly concerned with love triangles. In fact, romance is often the last thing on the minds of these characters when they are simply trying to survive each week.
Eliza Taylor in The 100 (2014)

Octavia Blake- who is becoming quite the warrior thanks to her close relationship with a grounder.

Abby Griffin – Chief Medical Officer and former councilwoman on the Ark

Raven Reyes – primary mechanic for the 100.

Anya – leader of a unit in the Grounders

Lexa – New leader of the Grounders

Perhaps the best female character on the show, and one of the best on TV at this moment, though is the show’s protagonist Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor).

This season of The 100 stresses the fact that despite our moral compasses we all have devils inside us which have to be overcome in order for us to heal and move forward. For some, it's a more prominent force and takes several mistakes to drive the sword through the demon, although the heart-wrenching journey and action of the battle is an out-of-this-world experience.
Clarke's journey starts when she meets her Doppelganger in the form of Josephine Lightbourn, a thrilling sociopathic princess with more depth, wits, and complexity than any anti-hero is allowed to have. Being stuck inside her own head gives the female lead ample opportunity to reflect and straighten out her choices with the help of a few blasts from the past.
Eliza Taylor does an outstanding job with her acting in the way she portrays Clarke, Josephine and the one as the other. She switches skins with careful ease and a perfect amount of the impostor's characteristics. Clarke's compassion subtly shines through during the ruse, while Josephine's lack thereof is just as clear.
While this is absolutely Clarke's season, most of the characters have to face-off with their previous mistakes.
The sixth season of The 100 premiered on April 30, 2019, and contains 13 episodes. This season finds our heroes waking up from a 125 year cryogenic sleep to start anew on another planet.

I love So you Think you can Dance ! I unapologetically admit ... I have watched every season. I was totally bummed when it was canceled. I have even seen the SYTYCD live when the top 10 went on tour in 2009 !! Yes I did its true ....... it was great fun. Cat Deely returned she is a fabulous host , I think Cat won an Emmy.
T-shirt I bought at the performance.

Dancers skilled in everything from ballroom and ballet to salsa, jive, hip-hop and krumping, all compete to be named the best. Dancers must impress the judges with their moves and rigorous routines in order to survive the auditions and be invited to Hollywood. Producers traveled to Chicago, New York and Los Angeles in search of dancers who represent the soul and rhyth... Read all

Yes I miss Nigel Lythgoe and his (spectacular dental implants) and Mary Murphy's ( Hot Tamale Train  :ROFLMAO:) But Twitch and Matthew are doing a fine job so far. The male contestants could use some needed testosterone.

Great seeing Cat she is as radiant as ever.

I have to say the very talented and cool chick who drives race cars is a beast with excellent balance and control of her body movements . She is incredibly strong ( It is fun to be young !!!) Her dance style is very unique, sexy and powerful. Her routine was fabulous ! And she seems a very nice soul.

Her song selection EPIC 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover ! One of those songs that resonates, to this day, with this listener. This is the story of Paul Simon's 1976 # 1 hit, a song he wrote about his former lover, Carrie Fisher – and how she was the one who left HER lover.
Her choreography was very pleasing to watch! I She has my vote at this point .Looking foeward to next week.

Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)
Opening Day Cinema Showing
Superb! Much better than the first movie

The original principal cast features Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Harry Hadden-Paton, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Tuppence Middleton, Lesley Nicol, Maggie Smith, Imelda Staunton, and Penelope Wilton.
In addition to the original cast, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West, and Jonathan Zaccaï will join the cast.
Follow-up to the 2019 feature film in which the Crawley family and Downton staff received a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain. Downton Abbey: A New Era focuses on the secret past of the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith). She comes into possession of a property in the South of France. Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) and his family head to France to investigate why the villa was given to his mother. Meanwhile back at Downton, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) hosts a crew of filmmakers and actors who use the estate as a set for their new film.

Downton Abbey has achieved another goal: it stands on its own in film cinema , as well as in television series production.
For those who have followed the series from the beginning will not be disappointed with the latest offering of Downton Abbey "A New Era"! Julian Fellows is a very clever writer . Both upstairs and downstairs. A delightfully charming British drama.

Downton Abbey continues to prove that perfection in music composition(The music score in this movie by John Lunn with the Downton theme is sublime) , writing, acting, wardrobe, directing, producing, cinematography, set design, location and casting, and in the finest attention to the minutest detail and period accuracy.

If you're a Downton fan there is no way that you can miss this film! It unashamedly pulls at the heart strings as the story takes you on a journey of highs & lows with some unexpected turns.
