This may be a stupid Noob question... But I am not sure of the answer....

I have a RX-V765 ... I use the Pre Amp feature and Have all 5 channels hooked to a Carver 5 Channel amp..

Why does my Rcvr put off so much heat ... it should not get very hot ... the internal amps should not be working?

Most lower to mid end receivers do not turn off the internal amps even when not being used. The heat will still be generated by the processors as well.

I definitely figured the processors would get hot.. but that was my idea... thinking the internal amps should be off! Wow..... interesting.

Older denon units used to run hotter when not actually using the internal amps to power anything as that would put in the A mode.

But ya that is common with it still being warm.
