Hi all,
Having used rew before Ive setup a new computer with REW through a creative sound blaster sb0460 'extreme music' sound card. Im trying to calibrate the card at the moment- with no luck.

Ive seen the help files comments on some sound blaster cards and have turned monitoring off already.

The help files say-
on some other Creative soundcards (e.g. Audigy 2 ZS) there is a Record Advanced Controls setting for "Record without monitoring" that must be selected. It can also happen if "Line In" is not muted in the Playback mixer for the soundcard.
cant see this option for my card so I assume it doesnt apply. Line in isnt listed on the 'volume mixer'.

It was a very popular card a couple of years back, so im sure someones worked this one out?:dontknow:

Hi,

You must make sure that your drivers for that card are up to date ( & usable on your current OS ) .

Here's what looks to be the latest drivers for the "SB Extreme Music"

> Watch the following video closely so that you can compare ( what you see there) to your existing softwares' interface ( I believe that poster has implied he is using the latest driver for this soundcard ).

> In watching the video, I can see a few spots where one might send the input back out to the output & therefore, creating a feedback loop .

> Does your software ( driver ) show that you have 3 modes ( as seen towards the end of the video ) ?

> Here's the "Creation Mode" (#2 of 3 ) . Can you access this mode with your software ? If so, within the channel representing your input, de-select all the output options ( the buttons beside the fader ).

> Anyways, you've won half the battle , just by recognizing that your current problem is a "feedback loop" :T:clap:

Hi earl, thanks for the info.

I have the latest firmware (same as you linked) and have tried every option I can think of on the sound card control card but still no luck as yet.

More fiddling tonight, but my hope is fading.

*edit* sorted!!

for some reason it all works fine if I use ASIO output and select to output signal from the right but connect to the left!!!!????? god knows what thats all about.- I suppose the Chinese 3.5 jack to rca splitter cables could have been incorrectly labelled maybe.

god, that took me 3 sound cards and 15 hours to figure.
